There once was a goat,
Who knew how to float,
He’d sit on his sombrero,
Float down the river so narrow,
He didn’t even need a boat.
One day when he got to land,
And he was walking along the sand,
Up came a rat,
Who stole his hat,
This wasn’t going as planned.
The rat ran with the hat,
Until it tripped on a cat,
The cat ate the rat,
Mmm it was fat,
But the goat did not stay to chat.
The goat grabbed his hat and ran away,
And there he did not stay,
He had his hat,
Got it back from the rat,
And now everything was okay.
We’ll keep waiting for it to happen.
But will it ever happen?
Change.
Slowly, then at all at once.
Change.
Generations, and thousands of people, wait.
For change.
They wait.
They wait, as if change will happen itself.
They want things to change but they don’t try.
If they care so much, why don’t they do something.
Change will not happen if no one takes action.
So many lives wasted hoping someone else will do something,
Someone else will make the change.
Why wait?
Why not make it now?
Change will not come by itself.
Change will come through hard work and perseverance,
But perseverance is not waiting for someone else,
It is not spending so much time hoping.
It is not holding onto that one thought of change forever.
Perseverance is taking that hope, taking that thought and making it a reality.
Change is stepping up to make a difference,
Being brave and creating a difference.
It could be small.
But everything makes a difference, everything makes a change.
Patience will not help you make change.
Patience will help you be calm until someone else makes a change.
Every small move makes change,
And if everyone makes a small difference,
We’ll begin to see it.
And we’ll truly make a change.
Not by waiting.
Not by hoping.
Not by thinking.
But by doing something.
One small thing at a time,
And this strange concept, change,
Will happen.
